  • Overview

Gizmodo Media Group is seeking an experienced and highly creative producer & manager for a video leadership role across all our properties. This position reports directly to the Head of Video.

    About the Company:

Gizmodo Media Group is the publisher of the web’s most original and fearless media brands, including Gizmodo, Earther, Kotaku, Lifehacker, Jezebel, Deadspin, Splinter, Jalopnik, and The Root.  As part of Fusion Media Group, we reach an audience of 120 million visitors a month — more than one-third of all Americans.

    Responsibilities

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter with years of experience across different facets of digital video production – as well as a seasoned manager with the communication and people skills needed to lead a team. You’ll work closely with the Head of Video and the editors-in-chief of sites with diverse audiences and purviews — from Jezebel to Jalopnik — to develop daily video, regular series, hosted shows, and reported, short documentaries.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 8-10 years experience in digital video production and editing, with demonstrated results in creating successful and widely watched videos across platforms.
    • Ability to shoot, produce, script, edit high-quality video.
    • A strong editorial background and sense of story. This position works closely with the GMG editorial teams to create video that matches sites’ voice and style.
    • Impeccable people skills and an aptitude for coaching and motivating more junior video journalists.
    • Great problem-solving skills — the motivation to spot issues and figure out solutions on a big and fast-moving team, maybe jumping from a pre-production meeting for a field shoot to sitting with a junior editor to work through a tricky edit.
    • A good attitude! We’re a fun, hard-working team.
    • Experience on larger-scale productions (feature films, documentaries, linear TV) is a plus.

GMG and its parent, Univision, are deeply committed to fostering a transparently inclusive workplace environment and people of color, women, people with disabilities and LGBTQ candidates are very strongly encouraged to apply. Our company-wide mission is to reach very diverse audiences and so, we are deeply committed to having teams and leaders that reflect this mission.

This is a full-time staff position based in New York City.
