Fusion Media Group is home to brands that include Gizmodo, Deadspin, Earther, Fusion, Jezebel, Jalopnik, Kotaku, The A.V. Club, The Onion, The Root, The Take Out, Lifehacker, and Splinter. Our podcast unit, which launched only a year ago, is dedicated to developing and producing shows that amplify the voice of these unique brands while also creating original content that leverage our in-house talent. Our existing shows include A Very Fatal Murder by The Onion, Deadcast by Deadspin, DirtCast by Jezebel, The Upgrade by Lifeacker, Dial M for Maple by The A.V. Club, Kotaku Splitscreen, Fave This by Kotaku, and several more in production.


Many of our hosts are writers turned podcasters, and we work closely to coach, direct and inform them the inner workings of audio production while crafting new shows, implementing series structure, show topics, and overall creating the sound/voice of each show. We are looking for an innovative, experienced audio producer to join our team to create wonderfully engaging and informing content for our existing podcasts while also working to shape our projects in development. 


  • Work closely with the editorial teams of FMG and the executive director of audio on conceptualizing, pitching and producing multiple shows that reflect the voice of the brands
  • Work with the hosts of existing and upcoming shows on the direction of the show while also advising and preparing hosts for interviews
  • Pre-interview and book guests, write scripts and episode rundowns, coach hosts during tracking, edit episodes on Pro Tools, record both in-studio and out in the field, studio management
  • Effectively manage time and prioritize projects
  • Manage and update studio calendar
  • Maintain exceptional sound quality at all times
  • Operate, maintain, prep and monitor the control room for podcast recording sessions of shows and promos
  • Maintain clear communication with team
  • Prepare and upload audio for digital distribution


  • At least 3 years of professional audio production experience required
  • ProTools expert; mastery of audio editing. Post-production engineering a huge plus
  • Experience with Megaphone a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment, juggling multiple shows’ needs
  • Informed podcast listener/news junkie/familiar with our brands
  • Experience working and directing talent in studio
  • Experience with various digital consoles
  • Field and studio recording experience required
  • Attention to detail in pre-production, post-production and digital distribution
