Overview

The Creative Executive will bring a solid track record of executing on a variety of Television formats and help develop innovative stories for television with extensive multi-platform applications.

This role will report to the SVP, Programming and Production

 

The role serves as the Network point of contact with in-house and out of house production teams and serve to support and maintain the Network creative vision, standards, production guidelines and business needs. This individual will oversee a number of assigned series, stunts and specials and own development including concepts, formats, character development as well as business matters.  The Creative Executive will be responsible for current production matters including staffing of show runners, directors, field producers and editors. The Creative Executive will be charged with both scripted and un-scripted original Series, Stunts and Specials and ensure the delivery of shows with the highest level of entertainment and production value. 

 

They will set and maintain production goals by working with the Producers on concepts, rundowns, scripts, production and post-production planning and schedules.  They will also be responsible for giving notes on creative, operations and communicating approvals through all stages of production. In addition, they will communicate operational and creative planning, plus progress and execution to network business units to help franchise positioning and strategy.  They will work closely with Marketing, OAP and Social teams to develop strategies, tactics and the deliverables to help achieve the Network’s goals.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with talent and key production partners.
  • Exercise excellent creative and business judgement.
  • Ensure production and post-production meets or exceeds the company’s creative vision and programming standards.
  • Create and manage preproduction, production, and post workflows and calendars, making sure all internal needs are met, and ensuring all internal teams have assets, material, access to talent and producers as needed.
  • Report on team progress to the Executive Producers, Network Senior Management and approve content in collaboration with extended team.
  • Identify innovative ways to experiment with storytelling and show formats.
  • Ensure all Television content has applications across digital and social platforms.
  • Liaise with other Fusion departments including Operations, Marketing, PR, Finance, Research, Digital, Social, Business and Legal Affairs.
  • Identify innovative ways to experiment with storytelling and show formats, working closely with digital, social team, and creative services teams to strategize and create season-wide campaigns and initiatives to help grow the show brands across a variety of platforms
  • Build relationships with creators, directors, producers and production companies.

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7+ years of production experience in a variety of commercial television genres.
  • Mastery of the detailed nuts and bolts of production and participate in all aspects of pre, production and post – from budgets and casting to production operations, both studio and field, to final delivery.
  • Experience in Producing, supervising or show-running at either a production company or Network.
  • Excellent writing skills and knowledge of story and rundown structures.
  • Field production experience.
  • Experience with series production budgeting.
  • An original, creative thinker with great instincts.
  • Able to develop relevant and compelling stories that will attract audiences and satisfy advertisers and distributors.
  • Ability to manage creative on-air and producing talent. Capable of working effectively with staff to identify strengths and weaknesses.
  • Excellent communication skills with the proven ability to help project manage creative teams and support key Network departments.
  • Creative team player and proactive problem solver.
  • Extensive knowledge of the evolving television and media industry.
  • Working knowledge of industry best practices as they pertain to digital, social, and OTT platforms. Understanding of how to help create short form content to serve as ancillary material to drive both tune-in and show brand awareness.
  • History of working on successful cross-platform series initiatives a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
